Everyone is welcome!

Book in at 6.30pm for 7pm start.

Every variety of poetry, spoken word, rap, hip hop, lyric narrative & there is no censorship. Each poet has 3 mins at the open microphone. Every poem read at the meeting is eligible for selection in our annual Reader. Please bring two copies of your poem.     Cost $4 unwaged /$5 waged. Fruit Juices & wines free inside.

You are invited to read, perform or listen to poetry at this offical Friendly Street Poets meeting.  Poets have 3 – 4 minutes at a open mic. to read or perform their work.  Every poem read is eligible for selection byour editors, Tracey Korsten & John Pfitzner, for publication in the annual anthology. So, please bring 2 photocopies of your poems, clearly labeled with your name and contact details on each page.

A free book for every new member – membership cost: $4 conc./$5 waged. Special door prizes and a best poem of the afternoon prize.

A major exhibition of Australian artist Rupert Bunny is now showing at the Art Gallery of SA. It covers all the eras of Bunny’s amazing working life. Friendly Street Poets are presenting poetry relevant & responsive to Bunny’s work and the times of their creation.  The Performers are: Kate Alder, Elaine Barker, Christine Courtney, Genny Drew, Tess Driver, M.L.Emmett & John Pfitzner. Several poems by Valerie Volk with be read by Elaine Barker. The first of two Sunday readings is at the Art Gallery of SA, North Terrace,  Adelaide on:

Three Sessions explore the fertile space of the science-arts interface, where researchers and artists of all sorts are challenging the existence of a divide between them. This afternoon will bring together contemporary writers of all genres with scientists in a celebration of science and the written and spoken word in all their wonder. It will feature readings from diverse wordsmiths occupying both sides of the divide, championing the case for bridging the gap and showcasing some of the wonderful work going on where worlds collide.
Winners of the national RiAus Sci-ku and the Science Made Marvellous competitions will be announced and winning entries read.

A National Science Week event ~ Science Made Marvellous.
It event is run in association between Friendly Street Poets with COSMOS magazine,
the SA Premier’s Reading Challenge & SAWC.

Friendly Street Poets will be holding an official meeting at the

St Peters Library on Sunday 8^th August 2010 2pm – 4.30pm

There will be a performance of poets followed by an afternoon tea provided by the Norwood Kensington & St Peters Council and their Library staff. This will be followed by and an open microphone reading. Each poet has the usual 3minutes access to the uncensored microphone. Any poem read at the meeting by a FSP member is eligible for selection by our editors for the annual anthology. Our brilliant MC Ivan Rehorek ~ Avalanche will introduce FS poets: David Ades, Betty Collins,  Jules Leigh Koch, Lilliana Rose, Jill Wherry, Royce K,  Margaret Fensom, Kate Alder, Suzanne Reece, Elaine Barker, Thom Sullivan & Ros Schulz.

There will be prizes for best poems and some door treats! You can renew your membership to FSP or join for the first time: $4 concession /$5 waged.
