Their silence
more a pact
than homage
to dawn,
woman and man
drift north
at ocean edge
past dunes’ white hips
pandanus -
diminish to blur
with the mirage
before they fade
into horizon’s gauze -
do not return
subtle as dusk
the sea eases away
their footprints
and forgets
