FSP Featured Poets @ Halifax Cafe: Amelia Walker & Mike Ladd, 25th November

The final FSP Featured Poets Session for 2015 with another pair of the best poets around town, Amelia Walker and Mike Ladd, in the fabulous Halifax Cafe. Come early, stay on afterwards, have a natter with the crew, enjoy the food, coffee and wine.
Amelia Walker is the author of six books including three books about teaching poetry in primary school settings (the All You Need to Teach Poetry series, Macmillan 2010). She is also a casual tutor at the University of South Australia. As a performance poet she has featured at festivals and events including the Transeuropa / Arts 4 Human Rights festival in London (2011), the Singapore Slam (2014), the World Poetry Festival in Kolkata (2008), the Overload Poetry Festival, the Queensland Poetry Festival (2006), and Australian Poetry’s Salt on the Tongue International Poetry Festival (Goolwa 2010).
Mike Ladd was born in the USA to Australian parents, but for most of his life has been living and writing in Adelaide. He grew up in the hills at Blackwood, did a degree in English and Philosophy at Adelaide University, then in the early nineteen eighties joined the new wave band The Lounge. Mike has often collaborated with musicians and artists, writing poetry for the screen and live performance with groups such as The Drum Poets, newaural net, and Max Mo. Mike has worked in radio for thirty years, most notably producing Poetica, a program that was dedicated to Australian and international poetry on ABC Radio National. Recently he and his partner Cathy Brooks have been running projects that put poems on street signs as public art. Mike is a poetry mentor, judge, and occasional reviewer.
