FSP Featured Poets Series 
presents three poets you simply have to hear: Kathryn Hummel, recent digital poet in residence at SAWC; the fabulous Mike Ladd, and renowned poet and mover of the Melbourne poetry scene, Michael Crane.

Kathryn Hummel

is the author of Poems from Here and The Bangalore Set. Her award-winning new media/poetry, non-fiction, fiction, scholarly research and photography has been published and presented around the world, most recently in Prelude Magazine and at the QPF partner event, Couplet. A frequent traveller and past writer in residence at Australian Poetry, Vitalstatistix, 1ShanthiRoad and the Kena Artists’ Initiative, Kathryn holds a PhD in narrative ethnography. Kathryn is working with the Red Room Co on the national Poetry Object project and has just finished a digital writer’s residency with the SA Writers Centre.

Mike Ladd

was born in the USA to Australian parents, but for most of his life has been living and writing in Adelaide. He grew up in Blackwood, studied English and Philosophy at Adelaide University, then in the early ‘eighties joined the new wave band, The Lounge. Mike has often collaborated with musicians and artists, writing poetry for the screen and live performance with The Drum Poets, and Max Mo. Mike has worked in radio for thirty years, most notably producing Poetica, dedicated to Australian and international poetry on ABC Radio National. Recently he and his partner, Cathy Brooks, have been running projects that put poems on street signs as public art. Mike is a poetry mentor, judge, and occasional reviewer.

Michael Crane

has been published in many literary journals and magazines including Overland, Meanjin, The Australian, and Best Australian Poems 2011, 2014 & 2015 and Australian Love Poems. His books include A Dog Called Yesterday – Selected Poems and Prose, Poems from the 29th Floor, Postcards from the End of the World and The Church of Contradictions. He has written many short stories and a detective novel. He organised the successful Poetry Idol series to large audiences at the Melbourne Writers Festival from 2007-2012 and published the annual song lyric and poetry magazine, the Paradise Anthology. Michael also has performed widely with independent bands and musicians.
