K*m Mann

Kim grew up in Alice Springs & has lived for long periods in America & England. Her poetry has won several prizes & 60 of her poems have been published in journals, newspapers, online & in books. She has performed at festivals around Australia & her poems appeared on parking meters for National Poetry Week 2001. In 2002 Kim was commissioned to co-write a libretto with Pat Rix for a concert with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra; Towards Unlit Skies, completed her Master of Arts at Adelaide University, started writing political poetry & began to get her short stories published. Kim’s second play bUSt, had its first public performances in November 2004 thanks to Arts SA & the Australia Council for the Arts.

K*m served on the Board of the SA writers’ Centre and the Friendly Street Committee each for two years. She Co-edited Friendly Street Reader 27 with Graham Catt. In 2006 Kim was chosen for a Longlines Masterclass at Varuna to work on her first novel with Peter Bishop. She has just returned from another Fellowship at Varuna where she was mentored by Ron Pretty to sequence her first collection of poetry.

Kim lives at the sea with a black, green-eyed pussycat called Nikita and small, rather bratty one named Chloe Mae. She works as a Therapeutic Counsellor in Adelaide. Her book Awake During Anaesthetic will be launched in April/May 2009.
