Span (Hanna) was living in China in 1993 teaching English conversation and writing at the Hangzhou Institute of Electrical Engineering. Won second prize in the Ian Mudie Poetry Aware (1978). Anthologised in Dots Over Lines (1980) and Tuesday Night Live (1993). Returned to Australia at the end of 1993, obtained a Grad Dip Ed from Uni of Adelaide in 1994, spent seven years teaching Chinese at various schools and in 2001 moved with family to Victoria. Span is still writing and completed a novel about three years ago, although as yet unpublished, and a screenplay in January 2009.
