Mockingbird Poets is friendly new poetry critique group for beginners and seasoned poets alike. Opening up on 17 September, if you love poetry, you are welcome.
To get us going at the first meeting, bring a poem of your own to share with the group, or one by your favorite poet. We can then discuss the way forward. The aim is to find a format that will best engage us in a process of constructive analysis and discussion through which we can learn more about the art and craft of poetry and improve our own work.
Lindy Warrell* will convene to start but, as time goes on, others may wish to take turns chairing so everyone has the opportunity to introduce a favorite poem and poet, allowing us to explore the richness and diversity of the poetic life.
WHEN: Monthly on the third Saturday of the month 10:00 am – 12:00 midday.
WHERE: Mockingbird Lounge, 63A Broadway, Glenelg 5045.
COST: $8 – coffee included.
SIGN UP: Please contact Mockingbird Lounge to sign up to the group with your name and mobile number so that you will receive a reminder text message the day before the meeting each month.

*Lindy is an anthropologist, meditation teacher, aspiring novelist and poet. Her work has been published in journals and anthologies and she has read her poems at poetry gigs and on air. She is a member of Friendly Street Poets (Adelaide) and Ochre Coast Poets (Seaford). After finding no poetry group in Glenelg when she moved back here, Lindy decided to start one herself and Mockingbird Lounge kindly offered to be the host.
