FSP August 2023 City Meeting – Open Mic and announcing winners of the New Poets and Single Poet competitions

$5 to read. 3 minutes per poet

To begin this meeting, the winners of the New Poets 24 and the Single Poet 2023 competitions will be announced by the respective judges.

Add your name to the reading list on the night if you want a turn at the mic. Bring two printed copies of your poems with your name and contact details if you want them considered for next year’s anthology, or submit them electronically via the form below after the session.

New Poets 23 launched!

New Poets 23 was officially launched at a great night on Monday 17 October 2022 at Halifax Cafe attended by about 35 people.

The launch celebrated the collective works of Stephy Kate Dewan (Little Closed Openings), Shaine Melrose (Shooting Words from my Soul) and Heather Nimmo (The Sun Came Up). The poets each read a selection of poems from their collections. Convenor Nigel Ford was the MC for the night with editor, Helen Hutton, launching the book. This year’s judge, Heather Taylor Johnson read her comments. … Click for more

Come along and celebrate the launch of New Poets 23, featuring the first published collections of poetry from Stephy Kate Dewan, Shaine Melrose and Heather Nimmo.

MC will be Nigel Ford. Judge, Heather Taylor Johnson will be there to share her feedback about the winning entries.

The winning poets will read selections of their work and copies of the New Poets 23 collection will be available to purchase on the night.

The Halifax Cafe will be open for food and beverages.

New Poets 23 winners announced!

We are delighted to announce that the winning submissions for New Poets 23 have been selected. 

Congratulations to winners:

Highly commended submissions were received from Stef Rozitis for Goon of Fortune and Claire Watson for A Glimpse of Light.

We look forward to launching New Poets 23 at a date to be announced.
