New Poets 27 submissions now open

FSP is pleased to announce that submissions for New Poets 27 are open now and close on midnight 31st May 2026. Each volume in the New Poets series publishes short collections of poems from three poets who have not yet published a collection of poetry.

Before submitting your manuscript, please read the rules and formatting requirements carefully. Failure to comply with the requirements will result in your submission being disqualified. The rules can be downloaded as a PDF document below.

Schedule of FSP 50th Anniversary events

2025 marks 50 years of operation of Friendly Street Poets. To celebrate this momentous milestone, we will be hosting a series of special events, summarised below. Put them in your calendar and keep an eye out for more details of specific events closer to the time. Everyone is welcome, but some events require pre-booking.

Launch of the New Poets 26 and Single Poet 2025 books.
Effective Living Centre, 26 King William Road, Wayville.
Doors open at 2.00pm for a 2.30pm start.

New Poets 24 and Single Poet 2023 launched!

New Poets 24 and Single Poet 2023 were officially launched at a great night on 30 October 2023 to a capacity crowd of 80 people at the Q on Hallett. The launch celebrated the collective works of New Poets 24 Nigel Ford (My Father’s Son), Helen Hutton (Stepping on Shadows) and Peter Mahoney (Facebook Poems) as well as the solo collection for Single Poet 2023 gareth roi jones (Selected Poems 1992-2022). Click for more
