FSP August Open Mic announces New Poet 20 & Single Poet 2019 winners

In addition to the Open Mic session, tonight FSP will announce the winners of the New Poets 20 and the Single Poet 2019 Competition winners. You’ll need to be there to find out which poets will have their work published in the next round of FSP books.

Bring along your poems to read or just come and listen to a diverse range of poetry. Remember, 3 minutes maximum mic time per reader to make sure everyone gets a go and has an audience.

The wait is over! FSP Featured Poets at Halifax Cafe returns for 2019 on a new night: the last Thursday of the month.

We are starting the season with three diverse voices: Steve Evans, long-standing FSP member, winner of the 2019 Satura Prize, published far and wide; Maria Vouis, one of FSP’s New Poets 19, and Amelia Walker, widely published, performed, and involved in the poetry community.

Legendary performance poet and short prose writer Geoff Goodfellow has performed his poetry at schools, jails, colleges, universities, construction sites, factories, rock concerts and literary festivals, across Australia and in Canada, the United States, Cuba, China, Europe and the United Kingdom.

Single Poet 2019 submissions: extended deadline

Friendly Street Poets is pleased to announce that submissions for Single Poet 2019 open on 1st May 2019.

Each volume in the Single Poet series publishes a full-length collection of poems from a poet who has not yet published such a collection.

Please read carefully the following information regarding eligibility, presentation format, and the selection process. Any entries which fail to comply with these submission guidelines will be disqualified.

When you are ready, submit your manuscript via the form below. Submissions will only be accepted via this form.

Submissions now close at midnight, Friday, 14th June, 2019.
