Voluminous Grid – The Adelaide Poetry App 

Voluminous Grid, a geolocation poetry app, is bringing Adelaide’s stories to life through verse. This interactive app will showcase poems – new and old – that celebrate the CBD of the City of Adelaide.

We’re seeking diverse voices, locations, and perspectives that capture Adelaide’s rich past and poetic present. Whether you’re a South Australian poet or from interstate, we’d love to see your work. The app will feature a mix of unpublished works, previously published pieces, and historical poems.

Featured poems will be accessible via smartphone as text and voice recordings, performed by professional actors, with walking events in 2026 to launch the app.… Click for more

New Poets 23 submissions open on 1 April 2022

FSP is pleased to announce that submissions for New Poets 23 will open on 1st April 2022, and close on 31st May 2022. Each volume in the New Poets series publishes short collections of poems from three poets who have not yet published a collection of poetry.

Before submitting your manuscript, please read the rules and formatting requirements carefully. Failure to comply with the requirements will result in your submission being disqualified. The rules can be downloaded as a PDF document below.

Submissions will only be accepted via an on-line form that will become available on 1st April.

New Poets 21 winners announced

The Friendly Street New Poets series of books has been the launching pad for many well-recognised and successful poets in SA who have gone on to make wonderful contributions to poetry here in Australia and overseas. Nineteen submissions were received for the New Poets 21 competition this year, six more than last year, which is pleasing to see in this time of limited poetry opportunity.

The judge for this competition was Kaye Aldenhoven, an Adelaide born, Darwin based writer and poet with 3 books of poetry published. Kaye has been shortlisted for prose and poetry multiple times in the NT Literature Awards and won 2 Red Earth Poetry Awards.… Click for more
