Legendary performance poet and short prose writer Geoff Goodfellow has performed his poetry at schools, jails, colleges, universities, construction sites, factories, rock concerts and literary festivals, across Australia and in Canada, the United States, Cuba, China, Europe and the United Kingdom. 

His most recent anthology Opening the Windows to Catch the Sea Breeze  showcases his personal favourites, poems that audiences have requested time and again, and shares his story as a poet and his belief in  ‘the power of poetry to connect with each and every life in a world saturated with sophisticated noise.’… Click for more

Looking back at the 2018 Goolwa Cup…

On Sunday, 18th November, 2018, the 6th Annual Goolwa Poetry Cup event was held at the Fleurieu Distillery, Goolwa Wharf.

I attended at the venue to set up the facilities with Elise Silson. Leah Grace, Arts Officer of Alexandrina Council & Gareth Andrews, Manager of the venue also helped with setting up, which was finished just after 11:00 am.  Sign-up for competitors opened at 11:30 am and was staffed by Margaret Clark, Secretary of Friendly Street Poets.  Judges for the event were Jude Aquilina, Ian Gibbins & Elise Silson. Timekeeper was Margaret Clark.

Single Poet 2019 submissions: extended deadline

Friendly Street Poets is pleased to announce that submissions for Single Poet 2019 open on 1st May 2019.

Each volume in the Single Poet series publishes a full-length collection of poems from a poet who has not yet published such a collection.

Please read carefully the following information regarding eligibility, presentation format, and the selection process. Any entries which fail to comply with these submission guidelines will be disqualified.

Winners of the Satura and Nova Prizes 2019

FSP is pleased to announce that the winner of the 2019 Satura Prize for the best poem in the Anthology 43 is Steve Evans for his poem Darkness. The winner of the Nova Prize for the best poem in the anthology by a previously unpublished poet is Val Smith for her poem Together.

We thank Keith MacNider for judging this year’s prizes, and everyone who submitted poems to the Anthology.

FSP Anthology 43 launched!

FSP is very excited to announce that the FSP Anthology 43 alchemy, edited by Veronica Cookson and Lindy Warrell, has been launched.

You can buy a copy for $20 at any FSP Meeting or you can order a copy on-line via this link.

Any poem read by a current FSP member at an FSP event in 2019 is eligible for consideration to be published in the next Anthology, edited by Valerie Volk and Nigel Ford. Please read the full requirements for submitting your work at this link.
