FSP Featured Poets at Halifax Cafe, September: Mike Ladd, Kate Llewellyn and Darby

This month we feature Adelaide’s own living legends Mike Ladd and Kate Llewellyn with visiting Melbourne poet and illustrator, Darby.

The Halifax Cafe will be open for meals, refreshments, coffee and more. Come early, stay late.

$5 at the door to pay the poets.

Mike Ladd is a poet, radio producer and essayist. He has published nine collections of poetry and prose, the most recent, Invisible Mending from Wakefield Press. He was the editor of ABC Radio National’s Poetica program, which ran for eighteen years and brought Australian and international poetry to a wide audience. Mike currently works for Radio National’s features and documentary unit. His memoir of Gillian Mears has just been published in this month’s Sydney Review of Books.

Kate Llewellyn is the author of 24 books comprising 8 of poetry as well as memoir, nature writing and essays. She is the author of the best selling memoir The Waterlily and is co-editor of The Penguin Book of Australian Women Poets. Kate was a founder, with seven other poets, of Friendly Street Poets in 1975.

Darby is a writer and illustrator from Melbourne. Previously published in wet concreteold trees, and thin air. He has also been included in Best Australian Poems, Meanjin and Cordite. His debut anthology of poetry Falling Upwards was published by Five Island Press, July 2019. www.darbyhudson.com
