New Poets 20 submissions: extended deadline

Friendly Street Poets is pleased to announce that submissions for New Poets 20 open on 1st May 2019.

Each volume in the New Poets series publishes a collection of poems from each of three poets who have not yet had a collection of poems published.

Please read carefully the following information regarding eligibility, presentation format, and the selection process. Any entries which fail to comply with these submission guidelines will be disqualified.

When you are ready, submit your manuscript via the form below. Submissions will only be accepted via this form.

Submissions now close at midnight, Friday, 14th June, 2019.

FSP Anthology 43 launched!

FSP is very excited to announce that the FSP Anthology 43 alchemy, edited by Veronica Cookson and Lindy Warrell, has been launched.

You can buy a copy for $20 at any FSP Meeting or you can order a copy on-line via this link.

Any poem read by a current FSP member at an FSP event in 2019 is eligible for consideration to be published in the next Anthology, edited by Valerie Volk and Nigel Ford. Please read the full requirements for submitting your work at this link.

2019 AGM and Launch of Anthology 43

FSP Inc hereby announces that 2019 AGM will be held on Monday 1st April 2019 commencing at 6:30pm. Doors open at 6:00pm.

The AGM will be followed by the launch of FSP Anthology 43.

The is no open mic this month, and entry is free.

2018 FSP Anthology 42 and New Poets 19 launch

At last, the launch of FSP Anthology 42, edited by Karl Cameron-Jackson and Ros Schulz, and New Poets 19, featuring collections by Geoff Aitken, Maria Vouis and Bruce Greenhalgh. The winners of the Nova Prize and the Satura Prize also will be announced.

The evening will feature readings from both publications and there will not be an open mic this month.

Books will be available for sale on the night.

FSP Featured Poets @ Halifax Cafe: Kate Llewellyn and Jelena Dinic

Another great night of poetry in the warm and welcoming surrounds of Halifax Cafe. Come early, stay late, enjoy the poetry, food and bevvies.

$5 entry supports the poets.

Kate Llewellyn is the author of 24 books comprising 8 of poetry as well as memoir, nature writing and essays. She is the author of the best selling memoir The Waterlily and is co-editor of The Penguin Book of Australian Women Poets. Kate was a founder, with seven other poets, of Friendly Street Poets in 1975.

Jelena Dinic arrived in Australia in 1993, during the collapse of Yugoslavia.… Click for more
