Bring along your poems to read or just come and listen to a diverse range of poetry. Remember, 3 minutes maximum mic time per reader to make sure everyone gets a go and has an audience.

If you want your poem to be considered for this year’s anthology, you must be a member of FSP. Bring along two printed copies of your poem with all your contact details on them for submission.

$5 to read; free to just listen.

FSP Featured Poets at Halifax Cafe: Jill Jones and Dominic Symes

This is the final Featured Poets session for 2018, and we have two of Adelaide’s finest poets to see us out.

As usual the fabulous Halifax Cafe will be open for meals, snacks and beverages. Come early, stay late!

Jill Jones has published eleven books of poetry, and a number of chapbooks, including Viva the Real (UQP), Brink (Five Islands) and The Beautiful Anxiety (Puncher & Wattmann), which won the 2015 Victorian Premier’s Literary Award for Poetry. Her work is represented in major anthologies including the Macquarie PEN Anthology of Australian Literature, Contemporary Australian Poetry, The Turnrow Anthology of Contemporary Australian Poetry, The Poet’s Quest for God and The Penguin Anthology of Australian Poetry.… Click for more

FSP presents another all-star line up of poetry as good as it gets: special guest, Andy Jackson, with top-shelf locals, Alison Flett and Elyas Alavi. 

As always, the fabulous Halifax Cafe will be open for meals, snacks, beverages and good vibes.

$5 at the door to support the poets.

Andy Jackson has featured at literary events and arts festivals in Australia, India, USA and Ireland, and lives in Castlemaine. His most recent collection, “Music our bodies can’t hold” (Hunter Publishers, 2017), consists of portrait poems of other people with Marfan Syndrome.… Click for more

Mike Hopkins  was born in London, and lived in England, Wales, Ireland, Zimbabwe and Malawi before settling in Adelaide in 1988. He was twice Rostrum South Australia Speaker of the Year, a State finalist in the Australian Poetry Slam in 2012, won the South Australian Libraries World Poetry Day Slam in 2013, the ‘60 Second Slam’ in the Adelaide Fringe in 2014 and was a finalist in the Spoken Word SA Summer Slam 2017.… Click for more

2018 FSP Anthology 42 and New Poets 19 launch

At last, the launch of FSP Anthology 42, edited by Karl Cameron-Jackson and Ros Schulz, and New Poets 19, featuring collections by Geoff Aitken, Maria Vouis and Bruce Greenhalgh. The winners of the Nova Prize and the Satura Prize also will be announced.

The evening will feature readings from both publications and there will not be an open mic this month.

Books will be available for sale on the night.
