Jill Jones was born in Sydney and has lived in Adelaide since 2008. She has published eleven full-length poetry books including Viva the Real (UQP), short-listed, 2019 Prime Minister’s Literary Awards, Breaking the Days (Whitmore Press), shortlisted, 2017 NSW Premier’s Literary Awards, and The Beautiful Anxiety (Puncher & Wattmann) winner, 2015 Victorian Premier’s Literary Award for Poetry.… Click for more

Come along to this 79th meeting of SPIN (Southern Performers Interactive Network) in partnership with FSP for an open mic night of poetry, music and story-telling.

All poems read at the session can be put in the Friendly Street Box for a chance to be published in the annual anthology! Mike Ladd is a poet, radio producer and essayist. He has published nine collections of poetry and prose, the most recent, Invisible Mending from Wakefield Press. He was the editor of ABC Radio National’s Poetica program, which ran for eighteen years and brought Australian and international poetry to a wide audience.… Click for more

Because of the long weekend, we cannot have our session on the usual 1st Monday…

Bring along your poems to read or just come and listen to a diverse range of poetry. Remember, 3 minutes maximum mic time per reader to make sure everyone gets a go and has an audience.

Sign-in from 6:00pm for a start around 6:20pm. Second session starts around 7:30pm.

Heather Taylor-Johnson is a novelist, poet and essayist currently trying to flog off an unpublished novel, poetry manuscript, and book of essays. She is a Research Fellow at the JM Coetzee Centre for Creative Practice, where she was 2018’s Writer in Residence.… Click for more

Single Poet 2019 & New Poets 20 announced!

FSP is delighted to announce the winners of the Single Poet 2019 and New Poets 20 competitions.

The Single Poet 2019 Competition was won by Benjamin Adams for his collection A Synonym for Sobriety with commendations going to The Laureate Poems by Suzanne Verrall and The Underside Of Bark by Gaetano Aiello.

Single Poet 2019 Judge David Adès gave great insight into his process for selecting the winning and commended manuscripts.… Click for more
